Decoupage on eggshells. Master class with step by step photos

Master class with a step-by-step photo “Decoupage on eggshells”

Master class is addressed to teachers primary school, educators, teachers additional education, schoolchildren of middle and older age, parents and all those who like to create with their own hands.
Performed: Lapteva Svetlana Khristyanovna, teacher of the state budgetary institution of the Novosibirsk region "Social and rehabilitation center for minors", Tatarsk
Purpose: gift, interior decoration.
Target: making a picture using decoupage technique on eggshells.
Tasks:
- to acquaint with the technology of making work in the technique of decoupage on eggshells;
- cultivate artistic taste and creative attitude to work, perseverance in achieving goals, accuracy.

Decoupage is one of the decoration techniques for different surfaces. Using this technique, you can create exclusive interior items, dishes, vases, planters, photo frames, decorate clothes, make your own fashionable accessories and do much more as far as your imagination allows. Decoupage is an old technique that has become fashionable again in recent years.
Decoupage on an eggshell gives the surface of the product unusual texture and volume.
There is nothing super complicated in the manufacturing technique, but due patience is required.

To do the job you need:
- frame without glass;
- water-based acrylic paint;
- eggshell;
- PVA glue;
- a napkin with a pattern;
- scissors;
- brush;
- toothpick.

Work must begin with the preparation of the shell. We wash the shell of a fresh egg and leave it in water for 2 hours.

Remove the film from inside and then let the shell dry thoroughly. The shell will become more fragile and there will be no smell.

We take the shell, break it into not very large pieces and with the help of PVA glue, with the concave side inward, we begin to stick it on the cardboard from under the frame. Let's start from the corner.

Shell fragments, as well as the distance between them, can be large or small at your discretion.

Gradually fill the entire space completely. The base is done, we leave our work until the glue is completely dry.

The shell turned out different color. Now we need to make it monotonous. We take white acrylic and cover the resulting base twice with intermediate drying paint. When applying paint, you need to pay attention: if the acrylic is thick, then you need to dilute it with a little water. When applying the paint, it is necessary to ensure that the gaps between the shells are not “filled”, the surface is not leveled, otherwise the effect of cracks will not be clearly expressed.

We take a simple single-layer napkin. We decide what motifs we will use for decoupage.

Cut out two different motifs along the contour.

We place them on the basis, try on. If necessary, we remove or add something. I cut off a bud from the top flower, as it turns out an overlay when combining the second motive.

We take the top motive of our work, place it in the place we need, drip PVA glue into the center and glue it to the base. Glue from the center to the edges to remove air bubbles or wrinkles.

You need to work very carefully, as the napkin is very thin and can easily tear.

Let's try the second motive.

Glue it carefully.

We leave the work until the glue has completely dried and frame it.

I made the frame more fun using the decoupage technique.

And this work is done in a similar way, only the eggshell is glued in smaller pieces.

Hope my tutorial is helpful!

Easter is coming, which means that every home will have a lot of colored eggs. So it's time to learn new technology needlework: eggshell crafts.

Eggshells are a great material for creativity. And we offer you two options for its use:

Materials and tools for eggshell crafts

  • eggshell
  • pva glue and brush
  • thick cardboard or other surface (box, vase, etc.)
  • tweezers
  • a small wooden stick, for pressing the shells (a manicure stick is great)
  • acrylic paints if the mosaic is made from white shell
  • decoupage napkin (if needed)

First you need to prepare the material. To do this, the collected eggshells are washed in warm water (and for better degreasing, you can even lower them into boiling water with a soda solution). After that, the shell must be dried, the inner film removed from it and sorted by color.

Professionals use shells from raw eggs, because the shell that has undergone heat treatment loses its hardness, its surface becomes more loose. But for children's crafts, you can use any shell, including those left over from boiled Easter eggs.

eggshell mosaic

To make an eggshell mosaic with your own hands, you will need a template for the future drawing. If you have artistic abilities, then simply draw a template on a piece of paper. If not, you can take any drawing intended for coloring in children. All contours are clearly drawn there and usually a large number of colors are not required. Glue the sheet with the pattern on thick cardboard.

Now we start gluing the shell. To do this, grease a small fragment of the picture with PVA glue and put a piece of shell on top. If the shell is too large, then you just need to press on top with a stick, the shell will crack and fall apart into several small pieces. Make sure that there is approximately the same distance between the shells.

Having filled one fragment of the picture, we move on to the next.

After filling the entire pattern, set it aside until the glue has completely dried. If you used a white shell, then only after drying, the drawing can be painted with acrylic paints.

Finished work must be varnished. The result is a kind of eggshell appliqué.

See what wonderful paintings made of eggshells by real craftswomen!

If you decide to do decoupage using eggshells, then first select a blank for future crafts. It can be a box, a key holder, a bottle and even a vase.

Master class on decoupage on an eggshell wooden box

This box is wooden, so first we sand the entire surface (both internal and external) with sandpaper. If you have taken up the decoupage of a bottle with an eggshell, then the surface must first be degreased with alcohol.

It depends only on you how large the pieces of the shell will be and the distance between them.

We fill the entire surface in this way.

And once again cover everything with a layer of PVA glue.

After that, we cover the entire workpiece in several layers with white acrylic paint.

And we move on to gluing the napkin, that is, directly to the decoupage itself.

Let me remind you that three-layer napkins are usually used for decoupage. We only need the top layer - the one on which the drawing. Lubricate the work surface with PVA glue. If the surface is very large, or you are working with rounded objects (a vase, a bottle), then it is better to cut the napkin into two or three fragments. We apply a napkin element to the surface and immediately apply PVA glue on top. We draw a brush from the center to the edges to expel the air from under the napkin.

Thus, we glue the box on all sides.

Set aside for a while to dry completely.

And then - two options (depending on your imagination). Finished work you can just varnish it. And you can also age the box. For this, the shells can be applied with silver acrylic paint, and on the ribs of the box with foam sponge apply black pastel.
