The varnish is suitable for all bases that can be placed in an oven with temperatures up to 50C. When applied, they form a very bright and durable film that can be washed by hand in hot water with detergents.
In a special container, place 1 part of component "A" and 1 part of component "B", mix well with a stick, then add 1-1.5 parts of water, depending on
whether you need to get a more or less dense film, then mix again.
At first it may seem that the water does not mix, but gradually the mixing will go very well. Let the mixture stand for about an hour to let the air out, then apply to the desired object. The varnish can be used after readiness for at least 4-5 hours. 48 hours after drying, place the item in an oven at 50-60 degrees for 2-3 hours.
Brushes can be washed with soapy water. We recommend that you throw away the remaining varnish in the trash, and not drain it into the sewer.

I ask you to understand: a huge laborious work has been done, more than 500 pages of the forum have been read, where everything is "in a heap", analyzed, compiled, edited, provided with links, etc.

vitreous varnish

When used, it is possible to change the color of the napkin motif.

Conclusions of Kzero:

1) acrylic lacquer in combination with vitreous lacquer for SOME napkins is just a nuclear mixture (acrylic lacquer turned yellow with a specific napkin + discoloration from vitreous lacquer layered);

2) vitreous varnish reacts, I’m not afraid to say, only with some CERTAIN dye, pigment, and in other cases it is friendly to acrylic paints and pale-colored napkins;

3) if reverse decoupage if you plan to use vitreous varnish as a finishing coat, then glue the motive better on PVA or special glue;

4) try not to work with paints on a napkin of red-pink (bright) tones with direct decoupage, as acrylic paint will react with vitreous varnish to a greater extent, and if there is no acrylic, then color changes will be almost invisible.

Victoria Di Falco : Vitreous art varnish reacts to low-quality dye used in printing, or the quality of printing itself (napkins). It can also react with non-native paints (especially white) and varnishes. Before working with it, it is better to test it for compatibility with non-native materials on a small example. In my experience, I used all the materials of one company, I only replaced the special glue for decoupage with PVA and used white paint from another company under the main background. My napkins are also good, because, as you can see, everything went "without a hitch."

The use of vitreous varnish from different manufacturers:

1. Vitreous varnish firm "Ferrario" when dried, forms an elastic film, stretches like tight rubber. They can be used to cover worn-out shoes (lacquer does not crack when walking) and folds on weeklies, wallets - where there is a big load.

Label on the back, translation: "Protective, artistic water-based varnish for mosaics and decoupage. It gives a thick film that is highly resistant to all mechanical and weather influences. Apply with a brush to the surface to be decorated. When completely dry, it becomes absolutely transparent, gives the work a brilliant, bright appearance". Jany translation

I fell in love with this polish without memory and I don’t want to know any others. It is self-levelling, one layer is enough, the coating is obtained like a real factory-made jewelry box. The gloss shines! True, you can’t apply it everywhere, I still love the matte finish very much, but Matte Petri does an excellent job with this. In short, it seems to me that if income allows, this varnish has not yet been invented better.

Maimeri No. 672 - Wax finishing varnish

This is a special finishing varnish for oil or acrylic painting. Salt in it. It looks especially advantageous in oil painting. You can cover the work in decoupage with this varnish, but ... the result will be far from the one described in the instructions. As a practitioner, I guarantee this to you. It has a very specific effect. (Victoria Di Falco)

Finishing varnish.

Different, but the same company. Left is glossy, right is matte.

Only the top 1-2 coats are applied. Under it is an acrylic water-based varnish, approximately 15 coats. (Kee-wee)

Acrylic-pistachio varnish

Acrylic-pistachio is considered the best top coat. This varnish has a special transparency, high elasticity and does not lose its properties over time.

Lacquer with the special effect of "golden threads".

You have to get used to putting it on. My first experiences were - blots and bubbles. Therefore, I took it away from the product and quickly applied it, constantly moving the can. The result was, though not perfect, but already better than at the beginning. (Lelik)

On the left is a varnish with gold threads, in the middle - just with gold sparkles (it can also be silver, with multi-colored splashes and just with blue sparkles). On the right, a colorless varnish accidentally sat down. Lelik

This is what the bottle looks like paint - the effect of gold threads.

There are also white and black. (ylita)

Transfer varnish TRANSCRYL (TRANSCRYL)(firm Lefranc & Bourgeois)

Used to translate an image printed on paper in a typographical way. TRANSCRYL is applied to the image, and then the dried layer is carefully removed. The image remaining inside the removed layer is glued to any type of base.

Usage:

Apply 4-5 thin coats of TRANSCRYL, first over the entire surface, then from top to bottom, making sure that each coat is dry beforehand. The image is then immersed in warm water for a few minutes, making it easier to exfoliate. The back side peels off from the wet paper, leaving a plastic film that contains the image - it must be allowed to dry on a flat surface. After drying, the image can be superimposed on any base. TRANSCRYL layer is used as glue. It sticks the image well to matter, glass, wood, paper, canvas. At this stage, Gel-Relief can be used to give the impression of a brush stroke relief. After drying, an absolutely transparent and durable film is obtained.

On glass surfaces, lacquering is most often used as a decorative layer, as well as to protect other painting solutions applied to the glass, such as paints. The same product is applicable for decorative work on ceramics. The protective coating must be moisture and heat resistant, resistant to ultraviolet radiation.

Interact well with glass and ceramic surface. Possibly create an additional decorative effect. Varnishes on glass are used in the production of stained glass window products and mirrors, interior items made of glass and ceramics, glass elements of various devices and fixtures, glass containers, and so on.

Usually finished products already have protective application made under production conditions. But if you want to decorate a stained glass window profile, a mirror, door glass inserts and ceramic products yourself, you have such an opportunity.

Coating materials for glass ceramics

For example, an acrylic water-soluble varnish based on polyurethane for working on glass forms a decorative coating with high physical and mechanical stability. The original solution is clear or translucent. Almost odorless. Fireproof, fits well. After application, it dries within one and a half to two hours at a temperature of +60 degrees. The polymerization period depends on temperature and humidity. So at room temperature, complete curing will occur within 3-4 days.

Acrylic water varnish can be applied to the glass of interior doors, electric lighting fixtures, interior elements, ceramic products, tiles as a decorative protective coating. Also, the solution is applicable as a temporary protection of the glass surface during transportation, sandblasting, thermal, aqua transfer, ultraviolet printing, multi-layer coloring.

It can be used as a top coat to fix the design and as a primer (when using thermal transfer technology, for example).

From positive characteristics select protective coating:

  • environmental safety (because water);
  • water resistance;
  • good adhesive properties;
  • wear resistance;
  • hardness;
  • transparency without yellowness;
  • preservation of the color saturation of the decorative finish (pattern).

The first time after application, the solution appears whitish-milky shade. But after drying, the varnish will be completely transparent (no cloudy glass or faded pattern).

The coating has an unusual decorative property - a frosty effect is created on the drawings applied by sandblasting. The treated surface becomes glossy-shiny, light-scattering. Acrylic varnishes allow the use of decorative additives - mother-of-pearl effect, metallic effect, hologram effect. The pigment substance is introduced into the composition of the solution immediately before work according to the mixing proportions indicated on the package.

"Frost effect" is also a kind of paintwork materials for coating glass products. As a result of processing the frosty or opaque effect, resistant to attrition, turns out. At the same time, the frosty effect can be easily made not only with traditional white, but also with any shade of color (due to a special pigment additive). Drying technology involves firing. At home, this is feasible in a conventional oven (half an hour at a temperature of +180 degrees).

It is more convenient to distribute the solution on the glass using a sprayer. Then the coating lays down more evenly, without streaks and streaks. But it is also possible to apply such solutions with a brush, using for coloring small drawings. Manufacturers of paint and varnish products marked “stained glass” have achieved such a uniform consistency that when looking at the light there are no chaotic strokes - like colored glass inserts.

For spot application, for example, covering ceramics or tiles, it is better to use a top coat fixer. The substance is resistant to various external influences, even washing ceramic products in a dishwasher.

For industrial use, more aggressive solutions are used, for example, based on epoxy resins. This coating has high chemical resistance and abrasion resistance. Special stained glass varnish it is added when coloring glass containers, including perfume bottles, in decorative finishing of glass-ceramic products. Note that the word "stained glass" in the name of the product directly indicates the possibility of applying the coating on any type of glass ceramics.

If it is required to treat glass and ceramic surfaces in rooms with high humidity or constant exposure to organic solvents, stained glass varnish is also available for this purpose. The main property of such products is increased mechanical strength and chemical resistance.

A special clear varnish on glass does not have to be used only as a decorative finish to protect designs. The base material after varnishing itself becomes more resistant to mechanical stress.
