We need camp counselors. I’ll become a counselor - let them teach me. Conscience does not allow us to calmly look at the above

First you need to understand whether you have an idea of who a “counselor” and an “animator” are. These are completely different types of activities.

The counselor is almost a parent for the entire shift (14, 18 or 21 days). Day and night - close and vigilant control over a group of children in all aspects: sleep, nutrition, leisure, appearance, excursions, conflicts, who is after whom, children's finances, preparation for performances, their mood, emotions, their thoughts and statements, their movements throughout the territory.
An animator is a person who captivates a group of children with entertainment for certain hours.

Every counselor can become an animator, but not every animator can become a counselor.

And there and there you need to go education.

1) Counselor.
1.1. School of counselors at your university/college.
Usually these are regional branches of the Russian Student Brigades movement. A linear unit - the "student teaching detachment" - is located in almost every educational institution in large cities and regional centers. More details can be found on the RSO website.
1.2. City-level counselor school.
A non-RSO school that typically serves to meet the staffing needs of specific camps.
1.3. Camp counselor school.
Indeed, as already noted, you can “grow up” in a camp and move from a child to a counselor (after going through minimal instruction), you can contact the camp you are interested in and undergo training directly at their base. However, it is worth considering that in the vast majority of camp training is suitable only for this particular camp. Simply put, you may not be accepted into the Berezka Children's Educational Center if you previously studied and worked at the Romashka Children's Educational Center. Universal certificates are available only for children's centers of federal significance - the Artek Children's Center, the Orlyonok Children's Center, the Ocean Children's Center, and the Smena Children's Center.
Training lasts in different ways - from two weeks of express courses to a year of in-depth study. Statistically, the school for counselors begins in January-February and ends with exams in May.
Now the attitude towards counselor personnel is stricter, so you will not be hired for official work without a certificate of completion of counselor school - in a normal camp.
2) Animator.
Since I have no personal experience here, I will rely on the experience of friends. This is a school for animators and endless hours of practice. Animators will have tougher competition than counselors. Animation schools in your city can easily be found by searching on VKontakte or search engines. The duration of training is a minimum of two months (in normal schools, not desks).

Now - about how get to the camp.

The following documents must be available:
1. Passport (confirming in particular that you are 18+)
2. SNILS (this is a green pension card)
3. TIN
4. Medical record (with tests completed and a mark on the minimum medical grade)
5. Certificate of no criminal record (one document stating that you ordered it is not enough)
6. Work record book (if available)
For young people - 7. Certificate of registration.

If you have all this and you feel that you are ready to bring good and bright things to the younger generation for little money (I’m just kidding about salaries now), then you can go with the following options:

1. Job sites. Some publish advertisements about vacant counselor positions even on Avito. Please read the terms and conditions carefully!
2. Camp sites. If you have already segmented your search by certain factors - region, salary level, living conditions, etc. - then look for camps located in this segment and contact their HR departments.
3. Dating. Ask your friends if they need camp counselors for the summer?..
4. If you go through a centralized school for counselors (RSO or city), then you don’t need to worry about this - the organization itself sends you as a single teaching staff to a specific camp.

I will say one thing - only a few people manage to get into the camp “quickly”. In some cases you can try to rely on experience, in others - on acquaintances. But, I repeat, a wave of active inspections is now approaching - especially after the incident at Syamozero, the fire in the Vityazevsky camp, and other local cases of professional incompetence.

Good luck to you in this difficult task of being a leader!

The school was opened by the largest company organizing children's recreation, Mosgortur. Every year about 4,000 counselors undergo training at the School.
All those wishing to become “Moscow counselors” upon admission to the Central School of Moscow Counselors undergo a personal interview, demonstrate their level of general knowledge and write an essay. Each counselor goes through 2 compulsory levels and 1 special, optional and optional: main course, program specialization and specialized training.
Classes at the Central School of Moscow Counselors for the first groups begin on October 22. Admission to school is based on the results of the interview.

2. School of counselors of the pedagogical detachment “Atmosphere”

Classes at this school begin in the spring. But the preliminary enrollment has already opened. Anyone wishing to undergo training at the Atmosfera school can submit an application on the website.

This School accepts only students. Classes will begin in the spring, but you can sign up now. Applications are accepted until April 1.

In order to become a counselor, you need to prove yourself, show a serious attitude and independence. Young men and women aged from 20 to 26 years old on average can become counselors.

The ranks of counselors usually include teenagers and students. However, in order to be accepted, you will have to undergo special training and be prepared to fulfill a number of requirements.

What does it take to become a counselor?

First of all, it is very desirable to have a socio-pedagogical education, but if you are passionate about it, then another profile will do just fine. To work as a counselor, you also need to graduate from a special school.

Education in such schools is free. In such schools they teach you how to communicate with children, teach you the specifics of work, and help you get out of difficult situations. After graduating from school, you receive a special certificate giving you the right to work as a counselor.

Of course, the certificate is not the most important thing! You need activity, love for children and their education, responsibility, compassion and a sense of justice.

One of the features of the job is that you need to communicate with children as equals, without emphasizing your position. You could even say that this is a prerequisite if you want to get a job as a counselor at an excellent children's camp.

Contraindications for work

Please note that for such work you must not have any mental disabilities and be completely healthy. If you smoke or like to drink, then the road to a career as a counselor is definitely closed to you. Moreover, you should not have any restrictions on working with increased physical and emotional stress.

How to become a good counselor

As you already understand, the work of a counselor is completely connected with children, and for this work to be a joy for you, you definitely need to establish contact with the children. To do this, follow simple rules:

Try to carefully guide the kids in any environment. Also make it a habit to help children solve their problems.
In any situation, act in the interests of the children, they will appreciate it.

Be sure to be patient, because this is one of the main qualities of a successful teacher. Try to maintain it in the most difficult and ambiguous situations.

Try to love children, despite the fact that at some point they may not deserve it.

Be sure to be confident in yourself, because only you will have to find a way out of a difficult situation.

Be an open person - this will very quickly help you establish contact with the kids.

Don't be like a child! Let's explain, psychologists divide the human condition into three types: child, parent and adult. An adult is one who is able to sacrifice a little of his petty ambitions for the sake of the common good. The child, as you might have guessed, is selfish and thinks only of himself.

We have to admit that many new counselors go to camp with childish motives, i.e. they want to have fun only for themselves and their loved ones. This position is fundamentally wrong. Your main task is to please the children and make their vacation the most unforgettable. However, the counselor needs to stay with the child only in order to give the kids joy with the help of positive emotions.

A counselor is a person who must serve for the benefit of children, but not become a child himself.

How should you behave with children?

Good question!

  • First, discipline and more discipline. Without it, you will not be able to complete all the other tasks assigned. Mandatory compliance with the requirements of the counselor and the camp are the basic rule. Try to explain to your children that good discipline is the key to excellent relationships and will help organize their vacation with maximum benefit. Failure to comply with discipline will lead to negative consequences; life in the camp will turn into chaos.
  • Secondly, help children get into a creative mood. This means helping them realize their abilities and talents.
  • Thirdly, it is necessary to unite the children's team, this will help children feel more comfortable and understand that in a difficult situation they will always be helped. In other words, be a great team.
  • Fourth, be your children's best friend. Communication with a counselor is extremely important for children. Never miss the chance to have a heart-to-heart conversation with your child. Children understand and feel everything perfectly, so they will be able to appreciate in you an older comrade to whom they can turn for help or advice.

To become a counselor at a children's summer camp, you need to be young and responsible, have certain qualities and knowledge, and, of course, the desire to do such work. Find out how to become a camp counselor in this article.

What does it take to become a children's counselor?

  • Young people aged from 20 to 26 years are recruited as counselors in summer camps. In this case, the gender of a person is completely unimportant.
  • It is desirable that the applicant for such a position have a socio-pedagogical education. But if a potential employee shows great desire, then he can be hired even without this condition.
  • Before becoming a counselor, you must undergo special training. As a rule, it is free. During the classes, future counselors are taught how to communicate properly with children, talk about the intricacies of work and potential difficult situations, and learn how to find a way out of them. After completing such preparatory courses, a person receives an appropriate certificate, which gives him the right to work as a children's counselor.
  • A prerequisite is that the counselor must be physically healthy and not have mental disabilities. In addition, such a person should not have bad habits, that is, someone who smokes or has an addiction to alcohol will definitely not be hired for such a position.
  • The future counselor must be stress-resistant, ready for high physical and emotional stress.

How to get a job as a camp counselor

Since students of pedagogical universities often become counselors, their educational institutions disseminate information about such vacancies even before the start of the summer holidays.

Those who are not future teachers can look for contacts of summer camp administrations and call them. Or get information on job search portals or on the websites of the boarding houses themselves.

It is better to contact employers directly - this way the likelihood of getting a job will be much higher than when posting your resume on the Internet. If you were unable to find a job at the beginning of summer, there is no need to be upset. Often such vacancies are re-opened in August or even at the end of July, when other counselors for some reason refuse to work.

Since the work of a counselor is completely connected with children, the most important thing in it is to establish contact at the very beginning of your communication. The following recommendations will help you:

  • Always try to listen to children’s complaints and problems, empathize with them, and, if possible, try to help.
  • Whatever the situation, act in the best interests of the children and try to support their side.
  • Patience is one of the necessary qualities of a teacher. Keep yourself under control under any circumstances.
  • Another important trait of a good counselor is self-confidence. Remember that you are the “captain” and never lose face, even if you yourself are worried or confused. Children rely on you, and it is important for them to see that you can find a way out of any situation.
  • Be open with your children - this will help you quickly reach mutual understanding with your charges.
  • Remember that you came to the camp not for your own pleasure, but then to give the pleasure of relaxation to your children. Therefore, sacrifice your ambitions, do not show selfishness, know how to seek compromises.
  • Don't show your bad mood in front of your children. And for your own good, try to maintain only a positive attitude.
  • Be a friend to your students, but do not forget about discipline. Only a disciplined team will help you easily cope with all the assigned tasks. Try to make sure that your children comply with your requirements; to do this, you need to explain to them the need and benefits of obedience.
  • Almost all children are creative. Help them realize their talents.
  • To ensure that every child enjoys their holiday at the camp, direct your efforts towards uniting the children's team, turning it into a friendly and cheerful team of friends.

The day before arrival

Today you arrived at the camp. If this is your first shift, then expect this day to be very busy.

The minimum you have to do

Apply for a job;

Find out as much as possible about the camp (after all, tomorrow you will be conducting a tour for your squad);

Specify the location of the first aid station, canteen, security guard, etc.;

Get information about which squad you will work with (age of children);

Get to know your partner(s);

Find out which building you will live in, get bed linen and sports equipment;

Clean around the building with your partner;

Finally, at the general meeting of counselors, carefully listen to the safety briefing and sign the log, which clearly states that you are responsible for the life and health of the children who will join your squad tomorrow. All this will take you most of the day.

The time has come to get a second wind, because now you have to do everything so that the boys and girls you will meet in the squad tomorrow feel the desire to stay in the camp. And the first thing they will notice is how you prepared for their arrival.

What is needed for this

Decorate the room in which your squad will live (facade of the building, hall, corridors);

Hang up posters with the inscriptions “We have been waiting for you!”, “Oh, how great it is that you have arrived!”, “Welcome home!

Your second mom and dad”, “The funniest boys and girls live here!”;

Bright funny pictures, funny faces, balloons, New Year's tinsel, etc.

In general, everything that can put the guys in a good mood should be prepared and brought to the camp by you.

I hope you did not forget to take from home everything that is useful for working as a counselor: methodological developments, scripts, collections of poems and songs, CDs for musical accompaniment of events, a flashlight, candles, a ruler, sheets of whatman paper, colored pencils, paper, pens, needles, threads, scissors, paper clips, buttons, tape, glue, whistle, mosquito repellent, paints, fancy dress costumes, tape recorder, packaging of A4 sheets.

Did you go to camps as a child? This is a wonderful time - so many new emotions, friends... And all this is created thanks to the counselors who sleep little, sometimes get angry, but become truly close to their squad during the shift. If you want to plunge into this atmosphere again, but from the side of a counselor, then continue reading.

I am often asked about counselors - how to become a counselor, how to get a job at a camp, and is it worth doing it at all... Therefore, when I was offered to write about it, I didn’t even have any doubts that this was a good idea.

So, let's start with the most important thing - do you need it? To do this, you need to understand what it means to be a counselor. First of all, it is responsibility.

No, you did not understand.

This is RESPONSIBILITY!

These are small (or not so small) children who are completely dependent on you during the shift. You are responsible for their health and safety. Up to and including criminal liability. Think twice about whether you are ready for this.

Have you decided? Then let's continue.

A counselor is a friend, mom/dad, mentor and everything else rolled into one. You need to be able to combine these qualities. The counselor should be an authority and a role model, and not a bully-ringleader who allows everything. However, do not forget that you are the one working, the children are just resting :) There is no need to ban everything!

Anything that could harm a child should be prohibited. For example, children should not be allowed to buy soda and chips. They could easily end up with an ulcer, and you would be to blame.

The work of a counselor requires enormous effort: be prepared for the fact that you will have 25 hours in a day, and of these 6-7 hours for sleep.

But at the same time, leadership gives a huge return. When you see the smiling faces of children who shout to you that you are the best counselor in the world, that they love you very much, when they hug you in a crowd - it’s worth working for! This is an endless charge of positive emotions, which we sometimes lack in everyday life.

It is worth knowing that counselors usually work in pairs. During the shift, partners should become the closest people to each other. It is important that you are suitable for each other, because with this person you will have to do everything together.

So, how to become a counselor?

If you want to go work as a counselor in the summer, you should think about it in March-April, or even earlier. But first things first.

First of all, if you have a desire to go to a specific camp (for example, you went there when you were a child), you should contact the camp management and find out how they recruit counselors. This is quite simple to do; almost every camp has a group in (or its own website approx. editor), where the contacts are indicated. Your best bet is to contact the hiring manager immediately.

In fact, there are two possible systems: the camp can attract individual counselors or a teaching team.

In the second case, you need to contact the leadership of the peds squad and try to join it. Most likely they will not refuse you and will teach you everything that a novice counselor needs to know.

The first case is a different story. In this case, selection occurs through an interview, where you must prove that you are ready to be a counselor. Moreover, you will most likely be asked to provide official proof of completion counselor school.

What is it and how to get there?

A counselor's school is a course of lectures, master classes, seminars and trainings, including the psychological aspects of children's behavior, the legal aspects of your work as a counselor, what a counselor can and cannot do when working with children, what should be prohibited for children, what can be done with them engage, etc. This is extremely useful for you in terms of experience and knowledge + greatly increases your chances of getting a job in a good camp.

For those who live in Moscow, I can recommend an excellent school for counselors. It’s called the Young Leader School, conducted by the Moscow Student Pedagogical Team. I completed it myself, received a certificate and went to work at sea in the summer.

Working with children is always fraught with certain difficulties, but overcoming them brings enormous pleasure. Children are wonderful people, pure, bright, sometimes naive, and sometimes not at all childishly wise. Their gifts - drawings, crafts - still occupy a place of honor on the shelf. After all, children always give something from the heart. And they smile too!

My long-awaited summer... Do you think it has begun? But no. Unfortunately, I only rested for about a week during the whole summer at the very beginning of June. Ask why? I will answer, but not now...

Well, tomorrow I will need to go on the longest journey of my life - a trip to the camp awaits me. Do you think I'm going on vacation? Yeah, of course, work as a counselor!

In the evening, having packed a huge suitcase and putting in everything I needed and didn’t need and, of course, my favorite blanket, I went to bed. The night turned out to be difficult: so many thoughts came to mind about how to avoid the trip. Yes, I honestly admit, I really didn’t want to go anywhere. No, I love children, but I was wildly afraid that during the holidays they would get into some unpleasant story with a very bad ending. During the day I watched all the terrible videos of children having fun at the camp, so at night I didn’t sleep a wink.

Morning. The hour of getting ready passed unnoticed, and now I’m standing at the bus stop, having drunk Valoserdin at home for my nerves and snacked on Validol. I wasn’t standing alone - my mother stood as support (or so that she wouldn’t run away). She calmed me down, said that everything would be fine, but I asked her one question: “Mom, did you put valerian?” She sighed and nodded her head.

There was no bus for a long time, and I again turned to my mother: “Mommy, there hasn’t been a bus for a long time, maybe it’s fate? God himself probably doesn’t want me to go to the camp. Shall we go home? Give me another 10 minutes.” “We’ll go home and tell the teachers that there was no transport, and there was no opportunity either, well, it happened a couple of times when I was skipping classes, and now maybe it’ll do.”

Mom was indignant, but she understood my excitement, so she responded to all this nonsense with humor and jokes. In the end, the bus, to my great regret, arrived.

Counselors, road to camp

40 minutes of shaking on the bus, and I’m in the city, in college. Seeing the familiar faces of my classmates and realizing that I was not the only one with a dissatisfied face, I breathed out a sigh of relief. At first we were told that we would go in a comfortable bus, since there were 20 of us, but instead a minibus came to pick us up. We, poor 19-year-old children, somehow climbed into this minibus with 17 or 18 seats, our chuvals were on top of us, in general, it was difficult to breathe and move, and we didn’t even want to talk. The door was closed, and a wonderful 200 km, or 4 hour trip to the camp, awaited us.

I won’t tell you how we drove, I’ll say one thing: there was only one window, then you understand, I think what it was like for us.

Having somehow arrived, an hour late, we finally left the steam room, and it didn’t matter where we arrived. Seeing the sign “Welcome to the summer health camp!” we crossed ourselves and were afraid to take a step through this wonderful gate, but we had to go. In a terrible mood, looking tired and exhausted, we waited for the administration.

The first counselor meeting, after which we wanted to return home even more, was not fun at all. We were loaded with all sorts of information and fines - yes, we remembered the fines better, because it was our money. In general, as we went to move into the buildings, we cried.

Having laid out their things, divided the beds and shelves, and almost fought over where who would sleep, the 19-year-old girls went to inspect the rooms of their charges. There was nothing special there: 4 beds, shower, toilet and sockets.

Realizing that tomorrow there would be children here, and there would be many, many of them, we decided to please them with something. You think: “What good counselors, they prepare themselves for the arrival of the children.” Yeah, we were forced to do this at one in the morning! Those. We, tired after the road, had to cut out something original, put it on the children’s beds, and have inscriptions like: “We were waiting for you,” “You are the best,” “We are glad you arrived.” In general, we had to squeeze out all these graces and create a holiday. We didn’t create it for long, an hour was enough for us, and at two in the morning, having cried our last tears, we fell asleep.

Counselor at a children's camp. First work day

At 7:00, with swollen faces after streams of tears, we began to get ready for the work day. We thought that they would bring the children to us, hand them over, and that’s it, we’d just resettle them. Yeah, that was not the case!

There was such a place in the camp - a checkpoint, this is a mini-yard inside the camp, there were tables and benches, and only there the children met their parents, we immediately called it a mini-prison. So, we were called to this checkpoint, the headmistress led the entire procession. When the first bus arrived it was easy: the headmistress was given a list of children, and she quickly wrote down who went where.

We took the first two to our detachment, and really wanted there to be no one else in our “family,” but then the buses arrived one after another, and everyone didn’t have time to do anything. We were like crazy running athletes - back and forth and back, and so on 200 times. In general, 30 children in the squad came running to us, and we didn’t know whether to be happy or not.

It was immediately obvious that the children were very smart. Having gathered everyone for the first “squad council,” my partner and I began to convey information to the children about what they could do and what they could not do. But the children had a different idea of life in the children's camp. It all started with the fact that one boy went, as it turned out, to visit his friend in another building, and we did not know what to do, and where he could have slipped away. Then he came in as if nothing had happened and asked: “Did I miss anything?” Everyone started making noise, they no longer listened to us, and we sent them to their rooms to unpack their suitcases. In general, we realized that we definitely wouldn’t rest here.

And so it turned out. The first three days I was all about the children, documents and calls from their parents. My partner was depressed at the time, but so were the kids. I thought I was going to die, and the thoughts of transferring to another school seemed very real.

Our first days seemed like hell, and the children seemed like devils who were trying to break something, hit someone, or, in extreme cases, send counselors. We, in turn, were ready for anything: in the morning 2 packs of coffee, 7-8 tablets of valerian, at lunch a slightly smaller dose of medicine - and the day was over. In the evenings we cried, we wanted to go home, but the children were greeted with a smile every morning. Children have nothing to do with it.

We became attached to them

In the second week, we got used to everything that was happening and tried to hold on, since the valerian ran out, and the coffee ran out even earlier. We worked, played, pleased, taught, scolded, participated, treated, sang, danced, learned something new, discovered different talents, in general, had a great time.

The last week dragged on, the children, feeling that they were soon going home, began to blow the roof off the entire camp. There were attempts to escape to “Wonderland,” as one boy told me, whom I caught near the exit from the camp. The following dialogue took place:

Where are you going?

Somewhere.

So, please tell me what happened to you, maybe I can help you?

No, I'm going to look for Wonderland.

Puzzled by the answer, I took him into the building, asked my partner what we were going to do, and she laughed and said that “Wonderland” was some kind of game that children came up with, however, no one knew the rules.

The week dragged on, and the children moved from the level of “pirates who destroy everything” to “a baby mammoth who wants to see his mother.” Trying to give love to the children, throughout the entire shift we quietly became very attached to them. Yes, even though we didn’t sleep because of them, protected them, vouched for them in front of their parents, we were scolded by the authorities because of their behavior, but we loved them very much. These were our children, and we were ready to tear everyone and everything for them. The children and I became a positive gang.

In recent days, although the schedule was clear, we spent most of the time talking. We talked about the camp, laughed, made up jokes, and just had fun together.

On the penultimate day, standing in the circle of eaglets, my partner and I burst into tears, although we promised each other that we would not cry. It was difficult for us to imagine that tomorrow the building would be quiet, there would be no one in the rooms. The children cried with us. They came up after this circle, hugged us and said how much they loved us and, most importantly, why.

Not only my squad, but also guys from other squads came up to me to hug me. During the shift, I was able to communicate with almost every child, and this happened by chance. Someone was sitting on a bench grieving about parting with a loved one, someone did not want to be transferred to another squad, someone was running away from the counselor, someone was sad about unhappy love, and much more. And at these moments I could not pass by. With warm hugs, with a smile, with relief in their souls, with new positive thoughts, the guys left for their buildings.

I didn’t do or say anything special, I just listened and somehow quickly picked out a good quote from books or advice. They themselves decided whether to listen, or turn around and go back into themselves. Everyone chose the first option. They trusted me and listened very carefully, and after that I didn’t see any of them with downcast faces.

The words the guys said to me made me melt and cry. I didn’t want to leave and leave the ripples so much.

The camp is over, as is my summer teaching practice, and having said to myself at the very beginning: “I won’t set foot here again,” I’m going to my last shift at this wonderful camp. And I think that there is no need to take valerian.

Many people went to summer camp at least once during their childhood. Most, although not all, had positive impressions. Therefore, it is not surprising that, as they get older, some strive to return to camps, but as counselors. How to do this? How to become a camp counselor? And what qualities do you need to have to cope with this job?

Why a counselor?

Working with children can be different. Psychologist, doctor, kindergarten teacher, school teacher, sports coach, animator. All these professions have different pros and cons, their own specifics and, of course, they will be of interest to different people. But there is an activity that to some extent unites all this - the work of a “camp counselor.” It allows you to gain a completely unique experience of informal communication with children, learn to get along with them, understand them and find an approach to everyone. Using their example, one can study how relationships between people are formed, and this will be useful, for example, to sociologists. Among other things, this is a very interesting activity, which allows you to compensate for the lack of some knowledge with a huge supply of enthusiasm. But how to become a camp counselor?

Required knowledge and qualities

First of all, it is, perhaps, charisma. It is impossible to perform the duties of counselors well without being able to interest children and win their affection and love. Next is responsibility. The work of a “camp counselor” involves constant monitoring of children, which, however, does not mean strict restrictions on self-expression.

It is also necessary to have a number of qualities. The characteristics of a camp counselor should include words such as “stress resistance” and “the ability to find an approach to a wide variety of characters.” Basic knowledge of pedagogy and conflict management is also required. It is worth saying that specialized education is desirable, but not necessary, because you can take special courses that will provide all the necessary information.

There is a very strict rule for those who are interested in how to become a camp counselor. The applicant must be an adult and have a health certificate. It is unlikely that there will be parents who are ready to entrust their child to someone who is not yet legally an adult. A consolation for those who have not yet reached 18, but really want to get a similar experience, can be the opportunity to work as an assistant counselor, the age requirements for them are less stringent.

How to get settled?

As a rule, long before the start, pedagogical universities distribute all the necessary information about how to become a camp counselor. Those who have no professional connection with children will have to find contacts on their own. This can be done by contacting the camp administration by phone or by finding a recruitment announcement on the website. Of course, another way is to indicate the desired position, but the likelihood of a call from the administration of children's recreation centers is minimal.

Don’t despair if you didn’t manage to get a job before the beginning of summer. Quite often, vacancies open up in July-August, when someone simply gets tired of performing the duties of a counselor or leaves the place of work for personal reasons. Therefore, it is worth monitoring the labor market in the desired segment throughout the season. But, of course, it is better to do everything in advance and without haste. Then, perhaps, there will even be a choice: go to the sea or stay, for example, in the middle zone.

Responsibilities

Before you become a camp counselor, you need to understand what the job entails. In fact, this is round-the-clock communication and support for children. In fact, this can hardly be called a vacation, even if the camp is located on the shore of a warm sea. This is real work, and not easy at that. Counselors are mainly engaged in educational and organizational work: they monitor the cleanliness of the rooms and organize cleaning, help the camp staff, take part in the planning and implementation of various events both at the detachment level and throughout the camp. In addition, it is the counselor who is responsible for the children when they go outside the territory. In general, this is the link between the administration and vacationers. But this is formal.

Career

Of course, working only for experience, knowing that there are no prospects in this area, is completely uninteresting. But it is not so. Even counselors have hope for career growth.

To begin with, it is worth saying that work in this position can be included in what can be significant when calculating the labor pension.

In addition, there is such a position as “senior counselor,” usually in schools rather than in camps, which is even closer to the work of a teacher. The advantage over teaching in this case is that higher specialized education and experience are not required. The senior counselor is responsible for the general organization of the educational process and the comprehensive development of students, as well as monitoring their safety.

Over time, of course, you can reach an even higher level. Having received the appropriate education, you can continue your teaching activity, combining it with educational work. The choice of profession depends on many factors, and a counselor is an excellent attempt at self-determination, which will allow you to evaluate your strengths and skills in nurturing the next generations and developing their talents.

Therefore, even if you were not able to be a counselor, you can still find a way to do what you love. Educator, tutor, tutor, nanny - of course, these professions are not quite similar to what teachers do in children's camps; nevertheless, they do not always require special education, but they help you find your calling.
