1. Take jeans, scissors and, measuring 40 cm from the bottom edge of one of the legs, cut off this fragment.
2. Take the strap and cut it as follows: make a fragment with a buckle 10 cm long, a fragment with holes 40 cm long and two more cuts of 3-4 cm each.
3. Turn the pant leg inside out. The machine stitched edge will be the top of the bag. To create a bottom, machine stitch the opposite edge of the trouser leg.
4. The corners of the workpiece must be stitched as shown in the photo. When you turn the design inside out, the corners will be rounded.
5. Use an awl to make a hole on the longest section of the strap. Look carefully at the photo and sew this part of the strap in the center of the future bag in the same way. This should be done manually, using a needle and thread. Then take a piece 3 cm long, use an awl to make two holes in it along the edges and sew a loop, as shown in the photo.
6. The section of the belt with the buckle should also be sewn in the center, but from the bottom of the bag (see photo). Sew the second loop in the area of ​​this piece of belt.

2. Transfer the patterns to the material and cut out all the details. Please note: the part for the bottom and sides of the bag and the strap are identical. Cut this part out twice. If desired, you can make the bag strap longer or shorter, narrower or slightly wider.
3. Sequentially sew all the parts together using sewing machine. First, connect the base and bottom with the sides. Then sew on the cover piece of the bag (“lid”). Lastly, attach the belt.

As you can see, sewing this bag will not take much time or effort. Even a novice seamstress can create such a model. If you wish, you can decorate your handbag with embroidery, appliqués or other decorative elements.

Convenient and practical model

Now we will tell you how you can sew a simple and very convenient bag like a wallet. Such laconic models never go out of fashion, and creating something similar with your own hands is not difficult!

You will need:

• any cut natural fabric(it’s best to take cotton) – 50x100 cm;
• 2 pieces of denim (wide jeans are suitable) – 36x40 cm;
• clothesline;
• thin plastic or cardboard (A4 sheet);
• ruler;

Step-by-step instruction:

Place the denim cuts with right sides facing each other and machine stitch along the sides.

Next you need to make the lining. To do this, you should cut out 2 rectangular pieces 36x45 cm from cuts of the second fabric. You should also sew a pocket to one of these pieces. To do this, cut out a rectangle of any size from the same fabric (depending on your desire). The top edge of the pocket needs to be folded twice and sewn with a straight stitch. The remaining edges are simply smoothed inward and stitched.

Important detail Our practical bag has a cord with a carabiner for securing keys, a wallet or a cosmetic bag. Fold a small piece of fabric from the lining 3 times, secure with a zigzag stitch, thread the edge into the ring from the carabiner and secure the loop with the same stitch. Ready!

Place the two lining pieces with their right sides facing each other, and insert a cord with a carabiner into one of the future seams. Sew, turn out.

The handles for the bag will also be made of lining fabric. For them you need to cut out 2 rectangles 45x10 cm, fold them as shown in the photo, and iron them. Also make two 40 cm sections of clothesline, lightly melt the ends with a lighter or matches. Place the rope in the center of the strip for the handle and sew close to the edge. Since the rope is shorter than the handles themselves, it must be inserted so that even sections remain on both sides (these parts of the handles will be sewn into the bag).

Sew on the lining, while the denim part of the bag should be turned inside out, the lining should be on the face. Mark the places where the handles are attached, secure them with pins, and stitch.

The bottom of the bag is made like this: in the middle the bag is folded in half, the width of the bottom is determined arbitrarily according to your desire. Next, it is stitched as indicated in the photo. Cut off excess, check symmetry.

We strengthen the bottom with thin plastic or thick cardboard; to do this, we cut out a rectangle to fit the size of the resulting bottom. Next, for the bottom, sew a cover from any soft fabric as shown in the photo. Sew the plastic cover to the corners of the bottom of the bag.

Sew the bottom of the lining in the same way as you sewed the bottom for the front of the bag. Now all that remains is to tuck the lining inside and secure it there with stitches in the corners.

The bag is ready!

Bucket bag

Another original and simple way to repurpose old jeans into a useful accessory.

To make a tote bag you will need:

• jeans you've decided to say goodbye to (preferably wider models);
• fabric for lining and finishing;
• ruler;
• sewing supplies (needles, threads, pins, scissors, machine);
• long lace.

Step-by-step instruction:

1. Measure the height of the future bag from the bottom edge of the jeans leg as desired and cut it off.
2. From another part of the jeans, cut out the bottom, having previously taken the necessary measurements.
3. Turn the cut for the bag inside out and pin the bottom to it. Stitch.
4. Using the resulting bag, take measurements and cut out the parts for the lining, connect them together in the same way as the front part of the bag. If you want to make an external finish, as in the photo, make the lining 4-5 cm longer than the bag itself.
5. Sew the lining to the base of the bag. If there is an outer trim, fold the top edges of the lining outward and stitch like this.
6. Make a stitch around the entire perimeter of the bag at a distance of 2.5-3 cm from the top edge. The resulting section will hide the lace. You need to insert it there through the hole on the side side seam using a safety pin.

For laptop

You can also create a practical bag for safely transporting your laptop from a pair of worn-in jeans.

You will need:

• the jeans you decided to say goodbye to;
• ruler;
• sewing supplies (needles, threads, pins, scissors, machine).

Step-by-step instruction:

1. Turn the jeans inside out, lay them out on the table, cut them so that you get the required depth of the bag. Sew the bottom using a typewriter.
2. Cut out the longitudinal side seams of the trouser legs. These cuts will serve as handles for the future bag.
3. Under the waistband of your jeans (top of the bag), make slits for handles. Insert handles with front side. Stitch. The bag is ready! If you wish, you can complicate this model by adding a soft quilted lining.

I’ve been wanting to make myself a denim handbag for a long time, and yesterday I got one from unwanted jeans. The handle is adjustable in length, so there are 3 options for handbags: cross-body, shoulder and waist bag.

To sew a bag we will need: denim fabric (I have fabric from unwanted old jeans), doublerin or non-woven fabric to seal the fabric (I used thin padding polyester, since I have a lot of leftovers), a 25 cm zipper, a carabiner for bags 2 pcs, 1 frame -regulator, 2 half rings or belt loops (I didn’t find them in the right color and used 2 frames), thread, scissors, pins, measuring tape.

I will sew a handbag from denim strips different shades. Cut 4 strips for each side of the bag. 8 strips measuring 24x5.5 cm.

We sew the strips together and iron them. From the bottom on both sides we cut off the corners, making the bottom of the bag rounded. The pattern for the front and back sides of the handbag is 23x18 cm. According to this pattern, the finished size of the handbag is 22x16 cm.

We seal both sides of the bag. Cut the padding polyester a little bigger size, put the fabric on it and iron it (through gauze or a scarf). The padding polyester will stick a little to the fabric and become thin.

The sides of the bag need to be quilted. Sew along the edge of the stripes and along the entire edge of the denim.

Cut off the excess padding around the edges. We do this with both parts of the handbag.

We cut out 2 more such parts from denim or other fabric (for the lining/inside of the bag).

I will have 2 small pockets on both sides of the lining. For them, I cut 2 rectangles 16x11 cm, folded the edges inward, ironed them and sewed them in the center.

Then we cut 2 more strips of 23x6 cm from denim.

We bend the strip with the front side inward and sew along the sides, where it is marked with dotted lines.

Turn it right side out and iron it. Same with both stripes.

Now we connect the outer and inner sides of the handbag and these strips. We place a strip on the part of the front side of the bag, on them there is a part for the inside of the bag (with the right sides facing in) and stitch where it is marked with a dotted line.

It turns out like this.

For the side of the bag, cut 2 strips measuring 52x6 cm.

We also seal the strip for the front side, as well as the main parts of the front side of the handbag.

Now you need to connect both sides of the bag to the side.

To do this, first sew the front side of the side to one side of the bag, then to the other.

Then we also sew the inner side panel to the inside of the bag, leaving an 8 cm hole.

Through this hole we turn the bag right side out and sew it up.

Now we make fastenings for half rings or frames on the sides of the handbag. For them, we cut strips of 5x8 cm. We bend them with the larger sides and stitch them from the wrong side.

Turn it right side out, iron it and insert it into a half ring or frame. It is better to immediately stitch where it is marked with a dotted line.

Received details. (attachments for the handle) we insert on the sides of the bag between the layers of fabric, bending the sidewall layers inward.

Sew in 2 lines for security.

We sew the zipper to the stripes that we sewed between the front and internal sides bags. I didn’t find a zipper with a slider in the right color, I’ll change it later when I buy it.

You can hide the tip of the zipper using a denim strip. Then we hide it inside the bag.

All that remains is to make a handle; it will be adjustable in length. To do this, cut a strip of the desired size (the size depends on your preferences and height). Average length strips for such a pen are from 100 to 130 cm. In my case, 105x8 cm.

We compact it. We also place the fabric on the padding polyester and iron it (through a scarf or gauze). The synthetic winterizer will become thinner and stick a little to the fabric.

The strip needs to be quilted and the excess padding polyester cut off along the edges.

We bend the strip along its entire length and stitch it from the wrong side, where it is marked with dotted lines.

Turn it right side out, iron and stitch again.

We bend the edges on the other side inward and stitch again along the entire length. We iron it so that our strap becomes thinner. Let's start assembling the adjustable handle for our bag using 2 carabiners and a frame.

We insert one of the ends of the handle into the hole of the carabiner, bend the tip and sew it where it is marked with a dotted line.

We thread the second tip of the handle into the frame, then into the hole of the second carabiner and sew the tip of the handle to the middle part of the frame (the video above and my YouTube channel show it in more detail).

Using a carabiner we attach the handle to the bag.

It turns out to be such a handbag.

1. For old trousers, you need to cut off the legs and their bottom, which is usually worn out due to contact with the floor. 2. Next, open the trouser legs along the usual seam (the seam will remain as a decoration for the future handbag).

3. Ideally, the result should be a rectangle, but if it’s a trapezoid, that’s also good, because the bag will be trapezoidal. 4. Now we connect the parts, sewing them right sides together. 5. Turn the sewn piece inside out.

6. Important point– fold correctly in the bottom area. Be sure to iron it. 7. Cut off the corners and stitch them so that they do not unravel.

8. After working with the bottom, turn the future bag inside out. From the outside the bottom will look like this. 9. Fold the top section, once is enough, since you will still need to sew in the handles and lining.

10. The hem should be stitched at a level of 5 mm from the top and ironed. 11. A handle can be made from a trouser belt without steaming it, but simply cutting it off. The length of the workpiece is 36 cm, including allowances. 12. Pin and check that both handles are the same length. The approximate distance is 4 cm from the central seam.

13. Now the future bag needs to be turned inside out. 14. The handle is sewn into the top hem, as seen in the photo.

15. We install the lining, previously sewn according to the same pattern, in its place. You can sew an internal pocket to it. In the photo on the left you can see which section of the side seam does not need to be machine stitched - it will be useful for turning it inside out. 16. We especially pay attention to the upper part - it should be smooth, and the edges of the handles should extend slightly beyond the fabric.

19. Sew on the lining, having previously made a basting manually. Note: it is advisable to place the lining pocket on the opposite side of the outer pocket. 20. At the junction of the handles with the top edge, you need to stitch or baste again.
