May 10 is a working year. How many days do we rest in May? Holidays in March

Every year we look forward to the weekend of May, we plan trips to barbecue, organize picnics, meet friends and watch the parade in honor of the great Victory Day. Do not forget about - perhaps the most anticipated holiday event of the year for many believers. In 2016, the government of the Russian Federation determined the days off for its citizens as follows.

How to relax during the May holidays?

  • May 1, 2016 falls on sunday. By the way, in 2016, May Day is combined with Easter.
  • May 2, 2016. Due to the fact that May 1 turned out to be a day off, the day off in the production calendar was postponed to the next day - Monday.
  • May 3, 2016. Oddly enough, also a day off! The official holidays in January (2 and 3) fell on Saturday and Sunday, due to which January 2 was postponed to May 3, and January 2 to March 7. Consequently, the Russians will rest for three days - from 1.05 to 3.05.
  • May 7, 2016 - saturday.
  • May 8, 2016 - sunday.
  • May 9, 2016 - One of the most important days for the Russians in the year when all the inhabitants of the country celebrate the anniversary of the victory over the Nazi invaders. Victory Day will be on Monday, which means that Russians will have to rest for 3 days - from Saturday (7.05) to Monday (9.05) inclusive.
In the future, all May holidays can unite!

Thus, a long weekend for the May holidays is not expected. The Duma has repeatedly raised this question: one group of deputies adheres to the position on combining the May holidays into a single weekend period. Others say that an extra weekend should generally be excluded from the production calendar, adding them to the annual vacation period. There is a third opinion - to give a choice to the Russians. Anyone who wants to, will arrange an additional weekend for the May holidays, and if not, he will spend these days on vacation.

May holidays once again significantly extended. In May 2016, in the production calendar of Russians, there were two series of non-working and public holidays: from April 30 to May 3, inclusive, and from May 7 to 9. A total of seven days off, between which three days will have to work. This procedure applies to all employees of state and commercial organizations with a standard work schedule.

Thus, the first 10 days of May 2016, the Russians will spend as follows:
  • April 30 - Saturday, a day off;
  • May 1 - Sunday, a public holiday, so the day off is postponed to Monday May 2;
  • May 2 - Monday, rest for May 1;
  • May 3 - Tuesday, rest for Saturday, January 2;
  • May 4 and 5 are normal working days;
  • May 6 - Friday, a working day, we work as usual;
  • May 7 and 8 - Saturday and Sunday, days off;
  • May 9 - Victory Day, public holiday, non-working day;
  • May 10 - Tuesday, the beginning of a shortened working week and the transition to the standard time of work and rest.
It should be noted that April 29, 2016 is not a shortened working day, like May 6. Since for all workers only short days on the eve of public holidays, which are non-working, are recognized as short working days. Therefore, a short working day on April 30 will only be for those employees who work six days a week.

Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation N 1017 "On the postponement of days off in 2016", the head of the Cabinet Dmitry Medvedev signed back in 2015. The transfer of the weekend of January 2 to May 3, by virtue of the document, is the last in 2016.

The decision to transfer the weekend of the New Year holidays to the May holidays, officials made in 2012. Then for the first time the authorities extended the May holidays. Corresponding changes were made to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. However, in 2016, the May holidays accounted for only one day from the holidays, the remaining two days were given on March 7 and February 22, increasing the rest time for the celebration of March 8 and February 23.

A full list of public holidays is given in article 112 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. By virtue of the order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation dated 13.08.2009 N 588н when transferring the day off to weekday, the duration of work on the former day off must correspond to the length of the working day on which the day off was transferred.

Work on weekends and non-working holidays is prohibited, with the exception of cases provided for by labor law. Employees can be involved in work only in cases and in the manner provided for in Article 113 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. At the same time, wage rates on weekends are carried out according to the norms provided for in Article 153 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. This means that for work on a weekend or non-working holiday, the employee must be paid at least twice the amount of his salary or tariff rate. In addition, at the request of the employee, he may be given another day to rest.

The production calendar for 2016, taking into account all weekend transfers, can be viewed in a special section of the St. Petersburg Legal Portal.

May 1 is an officially recognized public holiday in Russia - a day off. In 2016, this date falls on Sunday, and according to the law, in case of holidays coinciding with non-working days, the weekend is postponed to the next day - Monday, May 2, thereby prolonging the holiday weekend.

In addition, since the May mini-holidays, according to the established tradition, usually coinciding with the opening of the cottage and “barbecue and picnic” seasons, are very popular among the people, one of the days off for New Year was postponed to May 3 (Tuesday) this year Holidays - Saturday, January 2.

Thus, on the “first of May”, most Russians will “open the season” for four days in a row - from Saturday April 30 to Tuesday May 3.

However, for schoolchildren, students and employees of organizations working on a “six day” with working Saturdays, both April 30 and May 3 will not be considered holidays. The official “holidays” will be only two days for them (unless, of course, the organization’s management decides on an additional weekend). And this must be borne in mind if you are planning a vacation on the May holidays with your children.

How to relax on Victory Day

The working week between the first and second May holidays will be very short in 2016: only three days, from Wednesday to Friday.

The celebration of the Victory Day in World War II will take place on Monday - this day of the week falls on May 9, 2016. It will be marked strictly on the calendar: no transfers of weekends or holidays for this weekend are provided.

Therefore, the rest will last three days - the "usual" Saturday and Sunday, plus one day reserved for the celebration of Victory Day.

May Holidays Weekend Schedule

Thus, on May holidays in 2016 in Russia they will rest as follows:

  • April 30 - Saturday, a day off for five-day workers;
  • May 1 - Sunday, Spring and Labor Day is celebrated;
  • May 2 - Monday, day off (compensation for Sunday, May 1);
  • May 3 - Tuesday, a day off for five-day workers (compensation for Saturday January 3);
  • May 4-6 - working days;
  • May 7 - Saturday, a day off for five-day workers;
  • May 8 - Sunday, day off;
  • May 9 - Monday, Victory Day is celebrated.

All working days on May holidays will have the usual duration - a shortened working day is announced only on the eve of the holiday itself. In 2016, holidays in May will be preceded exclusively by weekends - therefore, a few working days in this decade of relaxation will have to work out completely, “from and to”.

The last month of spring - May - is traditionally considered the ideal period for holding the long-awaited May Day and the first barbecue in the fresh air. This month will please us twice. Since May 1 falls on Sunday, May 2 will be an official day off, and the day off from January 3 was postponed to May 3. The second weekend falls on the period from May 7 to 9. The main holidays of the month are Labor Day, the celebration of the anniversary of the victory over the Nazi invaders and the bright holiday of Easter.

May 1 - Holiday of Labor and Easter

On this day in 2016, two holidays fall at once - the proletarian holiday of Peace and Labor, and one of the main religious holidays - Easter. The emergence of the Day of International Solidarity of Workers is associated with the events that occurred on May 1, 1886, when six demonstrators were killed in the process of dispersing a workers ’demonstration in Chicago. This caused a storm of public anger and a demand to stop the brutality of the police.

The result of the outrage was the death of eight police officers as a result of a bomb explosion. Four representatives of the anarchist party were accused of preparing and carrying out an explosion. The defendants were sentenced to death. In memory of this event, it was announced at the Paris Congress of the International that May 1 will be celebrated as Workers' Day.

Every May Day workers will go to rallies and demonstrations in order to put forward demands to the capitalists on improving working conditions, introducing social protection standards and shortening working hours. Now the original meaning of the holiday has been forgotten, but it’s still very nice to relax and get together with friends for the first picnic in nature on a sunny May day.

In 2016, on May 1, and falls. This holiday belongs to the category of ancient Christian celebrations - it was celebrated back in the days of the apostles. Believers hold fasting for seven weeks until the Resurrection. A service is held on Sunday night, then Easter cakes and painted eggs are sanctified in the church, the whole family gathers at the table and celebrate the bright holiday of the Resurrection of Christ.

The bloody Great Patriotic War lasted more than 1400 days. As a result of the successful offensive company, dated May 8, 1945, Berlin was taken - the capital of Nazi Germany. Soviet troops, along with the allies, accepted the unconditional surrender of the Nazi army. Since then, May 9 has become a symbol of freedom and military glory. Mandatory attributes of the holiday are solemn parades, honoring veterans and expressing words of gratitude to them for a peaceful sky and victory.

Postcard to the Day of the Black Sea Fleet

The fleet, located in the Black Sea basin, was founded 233 years ago according to the highest command of Empress Catherine II. This event occurred almost immediately after the annexation of Crimea to the territory of the Russian Empire. The first 11 ships of the Black Sea squadron were introduced into the bay, where the city of Sevastopol was subsequently built.

In the subsequent history of the state, this fleet played an important role in helping to maintain the interests of the empire in the sea and in the Balkans. On glory day, sailors praise the fleet and lay wreaths at the monuments to the heroic admirals of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union.

Slavic Writing Day - a national holiday since 1991

This is a holiday associated with education, the exaltation of literature, culture and writing. In Russia, the celebration has been entered on the calendar since 1863. In 1991, according to a presidential decree, the Day of Slavic culture and writing was given the status of a public holiday.

In particular, large-scale celebrations are held in Murmansk, where a solemn prayer service is held near the monument to the creators of the Old Slavonic alphabet Cyril and Methodius. A festival is also held with the participation of writers, poets and artists of various genres from all over Russia. Literary evenings and gala concerts are held in the historical part of the city.

This year the May holidays were very conveniently placed on the calendar. May 1 fell on Sunday and pulled a day off on Tuesday, the third. On Saturday, on the last day of April, none of the employers claimed, so everyone will get a pleasant mini-vacation of 4 days (April 30 - May 3). Then there are three working days - May 4, 5, 6 - followed by a three-day weekend from the 7th to the 9th. The remaining Saturdays and Sundays in May will be unchanged.

It is safe to say that there will be few cars on the roads between May holidays. Many of those who have time off, extra days off, or the opportunity to take days at their own expense will try to do it (and you, dear readers, can also be in time!). As a result, they will get a full 10-day vacation with an economical "waste" of measured vacation days.

Holidays in May and not only

Of course, winning and calculating is not always convenient. It is not the first year to make the May holidays a long weekend instead of the New Year. Still, resting in a relatively warm May is much more pleasant than in an unpredictable January: will it snow or not, skating rinks will open or melt ...

Alternative projects have also been submitted to the Duma: for example, to leave the weekend only on January 1, 2 and 7, on May 1 and 9, to cancel everything else and automatically add another 10 days to the annual leave for everyone. Or finally make it a weekend on December 31, because few people find it convenient to celebrate the New Year after waking up at 6-7 a.m. and a whole working day. But no decision has yet been made, and the May holidays remain separated by a “half-working” period of 3-4 days.

Have a nice rest!
