The petticoat is made of fabric that holds its shape. How to sew a magnificent tulle petticoat. Mesh petticoats with rings

I don’t know how to sew, but I want to learn how to create fluffy skirts, and this method is the easiest of all that I saw. Enough for now

Elasticated Petticoat - The thing is indispensable and convenient, but the assembly most often creates unnecessary folds at the waist. In this case, it is worth sewing the petticoat as a “train”.

For such a petticoat, a material is used - a rigid mesh. It is the rigidity of the mesh that holds well curvaceous.

And so, measure the width of the skirt, where the petticoat should start (not necessarily the waist). For example: 88 cm. Divide by 16 (the number is unchanged!). We get 5.5.

The mesh length, for example, is 2 meters. Fold in half, then again in half, again and again. And that 4 times. We get a square. At the central corner, measure 5.5 cm (see above how to find this number) and crop this corner.

Then measure the length of the skirt. For example: 33 cm. And put it off from the cropped place.

Crop along the red line. Expand .. We get 4 circles with holes inside.

We cut each along the red line. Then we sew all the circles "train". Combine the points marked in the figure. It will be easier to understand.

It turns out one big circle with a hole inside. It should not be flat. Well, or it's easier to describe the design as something similar to a four-leaf clover. Then sew to the skirt from the inside.

You can add a few more tiers made in the same way, then the skirt will be double or triple magnificent.

Today we will talk about petticoats and how to create them with your own hands. But before moving on to considering patterns and rules for sewing such a thing, let's consider why such an element is needed in the wardrobe.

dIY materials for a petticoat

It turns out that the petticoat is used to create a more beautiful silhouette, and the skirt when it is used looks much better.

I would also like to note the fact that this item is indispensable even if you opted for translucent fabric. With the help of an additional layer of fabric, you solve the problem with excessive frankness of the outfit.

The presence of an element is also considered mandatory when you sew long skirt. In this case, the fact is that the petticoats are sewn from smooth fabric, which means that he does not cling to pantyhose. So, by sewing such an element of the wardrobe to the skirt, you can be sure that the material will not bulge.

In general, if the lined skirt is sewn correctly, then your silhouette will look much better than without a petticoat. As for the purchase of dresses and skirts in the store, before you pay for the goods, be sure to walk around the trading floor in your chosen clothes. So you can determine whether the shape of the object is convenient for you, does it interfere with normal walking. And only after you are sure that the model sits on you perfectly, you can go pay for the purchase.

Now as for how to choose the right material for the thing.

In general, there are two options:

 1. you need a petticoat so that the main fabric does not stick tights. The lining will consist of one layer. And the optimal fabric choice in this case would be tulle;
 2. you want to add more pomp and lightness to your outfit along with your lining. In this case, there should be several layers.

Attention! If you want to make a multilayer lining with your own hands, then you should not use the same fabric for all layers, since in this case the skirt will fill the figure.

And in order to make your outfit look harmonious, we recommend that you use such fabrics to create layers:

 1. for the first layer - nylon or any other soft tissue. Its advantage in this case is that such a lining is quite pleasant for the skin, but at the same time it does not stick to it and is not electrified;
 2. for the second layer you can use hard tulle. At the same time, remember that the more magnificent you want a skirt, the more tulle you will need;
 3. but the third layer is recommended to be made of soft tulle. This way, you can easily smooth out all the rough folds that may occur due to the lower layers.

And if you follow such recommendations when sewing a dress or skirt, then your outfit will look very original. I would like to note the fact that you can sew a petticoat with your own hands even for a factory thing. The main thing is to correctly take measurements from your figure and carefully sew the resulting clothing item to the seam.

In order to sew a petticoat of tulle or mesh with your own hands, you will need material (in our case, mesh or soft tulle), sharp scissors, a special elastic for the belt, a plastic corset strip. Well, and, of course, do not forget about all kinds of threads, without which it is impossible to sew anything.

Pay attention to the fact that it is possible to sew a lining not only from a grid or tulle. If you decide to make a single-layer lining, then you can use fabrics such as silk or lace. Cotton fabrics are also suitable.

to sew a tulle petticoat with your own hands

And the first thing you need to remember: always prepare all the materials in advance so that you do not then run around the apartment in search of the right color of thread or needle. Measuring the waist is also a must, because if your skirt can puff up due to the fact that the lining belt will be slightly wider than necessary.

Now for the preparation of the fabric. Remember that before stitching all the elements of the item, they need to be well steamed with an iron. The need for such a procedure is due to the fact that after steaming, the fabric will no longer sit down after washing. And this means that the splendor of the skirt will remain unchanged.

After the fabric is steamed, you need to cut it into fifty strips. Optimal size in this case - 50x20 centimeters. Although, if you need to sew a lush lining for a long skirt, then the length of the stripes of tulle can be increased. Now we take the elastic and put it on any surface so that you have the opportunity to attach strips to it.

The fastening of the strips is as follows: just stretch a strip of tulle through an elastic band and tie it to a knot. At the same time, try to place the nodules not too close, because this way you can make a wide belt, which will look rather rough.

Attention! The elastic should not be twisted, as this can lead to the fact that the skirt becomes one-sided. By the way, it’s worth watching for the evenness of the strip arrangement. Otherwise, gaps or bumps may occur.

After you have tied each strip of fabric to the elastic, take the threads and the needle and sew each knot so that the tulle strips hold tightly on the belt and do not move anywhere. It is necessary to overcast the edges of each strip so that they do not fringe. And one more little secret: if you want the lining to hold its shape better, we recommend that you connect the bottom of all the strips using a special plastic corset strip, which you can buy at any haberdashery store.

do-it-yourself tulle petticoat

Most girls think that rings are a relic and it’s not worth using a similar device to create a petticoat. But such an opinion is erroneous. Such an element in wedding dresses looks especially good, because thanks to it you can wear a magnificent dress without feeling at the same time in a heap of fabric.

In addition, the rings help keep the shape of the dress, and with it you can walk freely. Pay attention to the fact that when using a petticoat of this type, the hem of the dress always lies in an even circle. This means that you do not need to worry about the symmetry of the silhouette.

It is worth saying a few words about the disadvantages of such a device.

First of all, you should be careful with the owners of delicate skin, since in this case only hard tissue is used, which can rub.

The petticoat for a dress, especially in the style of a new bow, is an indispensable thing. With the help of our master class you can sew lush petticoat do it yourself without much hassle.

New Bow style skirts were very popular in the 50s and 60s. Mostly they were worn with petticoats, which made these skirts so magnificent.

Such a petticoat is also perfect for long, lush wedding and ballroom skirts, both gathered at the waist and flared, such as the sun and half sun. In addition, the petticoat adds splendor to the upper skirt and replaces the lining.

There are petticoats different types: hard and soft, lush and smooth, with tiers and with frills. Which to choose? It all depends on the destination (for example, if you need a wedding petticoat), the style (for example, a petticoat for a dress with a train), as well as the fabric of the upper skirt.

The simplest fluffy petticoat is a rectangle of fabric, collected at the waist, the top is assembled with elastic.

The option is more complicated, but the most often used is a more magnificent dress petticoat, expanding to the bottom. It is made in tiers.

To, for example, a wedding petticoat of this type holds its shape better, it is sewn from hard tulle.

From this master class, you will learn how to sew another version of a magnificent petticoat under a dress - with ruffles. It can be sewn from both hard and soft tulle.

The advantages of a magnificent ruffled petticoat are that it is completely sewn from soft tulle, therefore it turns out to be light, magnificent and comfortable to wear. Hard tulle catches tights, edges and seams can stitch legs, this does not happen with soft tulle.

The view from the inside

In this design, all the seams are under the ruffles on the outside of the petticoat, and a whole half-skirt goes to the body, so there are no such problems.

Due to the frills overlapping each other, a soft transition is obtained from one frill to another. In addition, due to the large number of layers and density of frills, the petticoat becomes opaque, which allows it to be used for dresses made of transparent fabrics - tulle, chiffon, lace.

The bottom of the petticoat is very “thick”, multi-layered, in short skirts it can be made to look out from under the upper skirt, which will add elegance to the dress.

DISADVANTAGES OF THE GIRLDOOR CLIP.

He will need a lot of fabric:
for a long hard tulle petticoat: approximately 4.5 m with a width of 3 m;
for a long soft tulle petticoat: approximately 7.5 m with a width of 3 m.

CUT TO A GIRL.

STEP 1.

The base of the magnificent petticoat is a half-sun skirt. Rows of frills are sewn onto it. The top of the skirt is gathered on an elastic band.

To build a skirt, we need to calculate two radii:
Radius 1 (R1) is for the waist under the elastic, so the girth of the skirt at the top should be such that the skirt is easily worn.
Take the Hip circumference (OB) + 10 cm, from here
R1 = (OB + 10): 3.14
Radius 2 (R2) is the bottom of the skirt, so it is equal to the length of the skirt plus R1
R2 = R1 + Skirt Length (see diagram)

Fold the fabric in half and draw two radii from the upper edge of the fold, give an allowance of 1-1.5 cm along the waist and side. An allowance is not needed on the bottom, the bottom of the tulle is not processed.

STEP 2. Cutting the skirt.

We unfold the skirt in one layer and mark the places for sewing frills. To do this, back down from the waist by 10-15 cm, draw a line. The upper, longest frill will be sewn along it.

The remaining length of the skirt is divided into three parts, if the skirt is on the floor and two, if the skirt is over the knee.
I got 27 cm. We draw lines at equal intervals (see diagram).

The bottom frill is the shortest, in my case it is 27 cm, then there is the middle frill, which completely covers the bottom, it is twice as long (54 cm).

STEP 3. CALCULATE THE LENGTH OF EACH RIM.

To do this, measure the length of the line along which the frill is sewn. The rim should be three times longer than this line. Therefore, for the lower frill, we cut out three strips of 3m each. Total length of the bottom frill = 9m.

For the middle - two bands of 3m. Total length of the average frill = 6m.

For the upper frill, you need one strip = 3m long.

Ruffles skirts.

If tulle is hard or semi-rigid, then we make single ruffles.

To make the magnificent petticoat opaque, the base (half-skirt) can be cut out of the lining fabric, and tulle frills can be sewn onto it. In this case, the consumption of tulle will be reduced to 3 m.

But since I have soft tulle, I need thicker ruffles, so I make them double, with a fold in the middle. To do this, I double the width of each frill. This increases the consumption of tissue, but the petticoat becomes twice as magnificent. Since tulle weighs little, the skirt remains light, but very magnificent (see the pattern of cutting frills).

Sewing the Petticoat.

On the half-sun skirt, mark the places for sewing frills. Lay out the skirt in one layer. Do not stitch the skirt before sewing frills! It is more convenient to sew frills on the flat part of the skirt.

Sew parts of each of the frills into one long one. To do this, the short ends of the frills are superimposed on each other by 5 mm and adjust them to each other with a false seam. Do not stitch frill into the ring!

Fold each frill in half and iron along the fold.

Then unfold in one layer and lay the stitch along the fold with the widest stitch on the typewriter.

Put a frill on the skirt in expanded form like this. So that the edge of the frill coincides with the edge of the skirt, and the middle of the frill with a stitch - with the line marking on the skirt.

Pin the frill to the skirt with pins across the stitch, retreating 1-1.5 cm from the edge on the side of the skirt. This is necessary in order to sew the skirt in the future at the seam without capturing the frill.

It is convenient to divide the skirt into 4 parts and the frill into 4 parts (in half and again in half), pin the frill around the edges and along these four equal parts, and then tighten the thread and evenly distribute the assembly in these sections. So the frill throughout the skirt will be collected evenly. You need to pin a frill often so that it does not budge.

Sew the frill to the skirt on the machine with a frequent stitch, remove the pins and the landing stitch.

Unscrew the frill down and iron the fold. If the frill is single-layered, then it is added along the upper cut and adjusted to the skirt along the marking line. In this case, it is necessary to give 1 cm of allowance along the long cut of the frill!

Here's how it will look on a stitched skirt.

If you want only the edge of the sun skirt or half-sun to be magnificent, you can sew such a petticoat with only one frill. For example, a petticoat for a dress for the summer, a light skirt or for a children's dress. The edges of the ruffles peek out from under the skirt and hold the edge of the upper skirt.

In the exact same way, sew the middle frill, turn it down and iron.

Such a petticoat can be used for more magnificent skirts, for example, Tatyana, the sun or a half sun. In this case, a conical effect is achieved - at the waist, the skirt sits along the figure, and gradually expands towards the bottom.

If you need a fluffy skirt from the waist, you need to sew on another ruffle. It is the longest, it covers all the lower frills, but is not included in the assembly at the waist, so the waist remains thin. Extension begins just below the waist. Sew it in the same way as the two previous frills.

Now you need to chop and grind the seam of the skirt. Since the frills we sewed, stepping back from the side sections of the skirt to the width of the allowance, they do not enter the seam. The seam allowances for soft tulle are simply ironed, and for hard tulle, the allowance is better to be edged so that it does not prick.

We take an elastic band 3-4 cm wide, cut off +3 cm at our waist. We put the ends of the elastic bands on each other by 1.5 cm and grind them with a zigzag seam.

The upper edge of the skirt is punctured with elastic in 4 places, then we stretch the elastic to the sections of the skirt and adjust the edge of the skirt to the elastic with a zigzag, preferably in two lines - along the edge of the fabric and along the lower edge of the elastic.

It is better to stitch Fatin from the outside of the elastic so that he does not prick in the toe at the waist.

It remains to sew layers of frills so that they become solid. We put the edges of the frills at the seam of the skirt on top of each other and grind with a false seam.

The magnificent petticoat with your own hands is ready!

A distinctive feature of the wedding dress is the splendor of the skirt. Every girl from childhood dreams of a falling flowing wedding dress. This effect is achieved by tucking a special petticoat under the dress. The choice of this element of the wardrobe is not as important as the search for the desired wedding attire. But the appearance of the whole image, its completeness, depends on the correct petticoat or, as it is also called, crinoline. This wardrobe detail, hidden from prying eyes, is needed not only for dresses of a ball style, but also for outfits with an A-silhouette or in the Empire style.

The main types of petticoats for a wedding dress

The main function of the wedding petticoat is to emphasize the style of the dress, it makes the skirt decorated, completed, which sets the tone for the whole outfit. Without this inconspicuous detail of the wardrobe, the dress will not seem so elegant and festive. Some brides prefer to abandon the purchase of crinoline, believing that it fetters movement, does not allow you to feel comfortable on a holiday and interferes with dancing.

If you choose the style of the accessory, then it will not only prevent you from enjoying every minute festive day, but also will make your image gentle and romantic, like a fairy-tale princess. Lush crinolines make the bride's walk smooth and elegant. But in order to decide which petticoat will suit your wedding dress, you need to understand the types of this accessory.

With flexible rings

Petticoats with flexible rings are most in demand among modern brides. This type of crinoline is considered a lightweight option compared to an accessory that has rigid rings. When sewing this element of a wedding wardrobe, fabric is used instead of a rigid mesh, as in other models. The advantage of flexible plastic rings is that they do not stand out when walking.

It will not be difficult for the bride to move around in a dress with a petticoat having flexible rings. She can easily get into a car, sit down at a banquet table and even participate in mobile competitions and dance. The only drawback of such models is the fragility of the plastic. Rings with a strong pressure or improper folding may break, which will ruin the appearance of the outfit. The cost of petticoats with flexible rings is somewhat more expensive than models with rigid inserts.

With rigid 1 to 7 rings

Rigid Petticoat - classic version real crinoline. When such an accessory just came into fashion, it was sewn from a special fabric, which included horse hair and linen threads. Due to the stiffness of this fabric, the crinolines kept their shape and volume well. Modern tailors in the manufacture of crinoline skirts use a mesh with inserts of hard rings, and their number in the petticoat depends on the desired style and varies from one to seven.

The model of the accessory with rigid rings creates a space under the skirt of the wedding attire, so that the bride can easily move without getting tangled in a multilayer dress during dancing. But the disadvantages of this species are also inherent. So, when walking, rigid rings stand out under the skirt of the outfit, and if the wedding dress is sewn from thin fabric, then the tin frame will be visible. It can also be difficult to get into the car, as the rigid petticoat rises a lot.

Multilayer without rings

Sometimes brides are looking for such options for petticoats, which basically have no rings that spoil the appearance of the outfit, standing out from under the skirt. They stop their choice on multilayer crinolines, the volume of which is achieved due to the large number of layers of fabric sewn onto each other, and not due to the strong annular frame. But the multilayer design also has its drawbacks.

Experts recommend choosing such accessory models only for short dresses or slightly below the knee. If a multilayer crinoline is sewn for an outfit of floor length, this implies the use of a large footage of fabric, which will significantly affect the price. As a result, due to the abundance of material, the product will turn out to be heavy and will cause discomfort when walking. Since synthetic fabrics are traditionally used in the manufacture of multilayer petticoats, it is hot and unpleasant in such products.

For dresses with trains

It is problematic to find wedding petticoats for dresses with trains. Such products cost much more than other models. These crinolines are made according to the principle of petticoats with plastic or tin rings over which mesh or fabric frills are sewn. The only difference is that its dimensions lengthen depending on the length of the loop. Such crinolines are made mainly to order.

The obvious minus of the petticoat with a train is its inconvenience. The bride will be uncomfortable to sit down in an outfit that has such an accessory, since when landing on a chair or in a car, the train will lie only in one direction, and the mesh frills in the other. From this outfit will look strange and unattractive, make beautiful photo or a video with a seated bride will not work.

With mesh or fabric ruffles

Lush ruffled petticoats are sewn of tulle or mesh. Many fabric frills are sewn to the base until the desired length and volume are achieved. You can put on such petticoats both independently and over a crinoline with rings. Due to the multi-layered accessory, the frame will shine through and will not stand out. The dress receives additional volume, and the rings remain hidden from prying eyes.

If a tulle petticoat dresses without a skeleton, then you should not expect a good volume. Therefore, some wedding salons offer brides crinolines with rigid or plastic rings, on top of which many rows of frills are sewn. Such a petticoat keeps its shape well, and the outfit as a whole looks neater and more sophisticated than with an accessory without fabric frills.

How to sew a magnificent petticoat from tulle

The least embarrassing style is the Tatyana. He represents a wide skirt, which is going on an elastic band.

How to sew a fluffy petticoat for a girl:

 • First of all, the length and width of this wardrobe element are determined. With a long, everything is clear - it will depend on the personal wishes of the craftswoman. But the width of the fabric should be measured as follows: the girth along the hips should be multiplied by three, and also take a few centimeters in reserve, which are used in the seam. Fabric consumed at least half a meter.
 • When the fabric is prepared, it should be smoothed out under steam - this must be done so that after the first washing the product does not sit down.
 • Next, on a rectangular fabric trim, you need to sew a seam - either lateral or double. Side cuts are folded upside down, then fastened with wide seams, the length of which reaches four centimeters. Slices need to be trimmed.
 • After this, the seam is turned inside out, the second line is laid somewhere around 6 centimeters at a distance from the edge and ironed.
 • Next, you need to do the processing of the upper cut, using the seam "hem". At the same time, it is very important to leave a distance that will later be used for the gum. You need to wrap this place with your own hands and stitch it again at the seam, then use a pin or any other convenient tool to push the rubber into the hole, and then sew the ends together.
 • The lower sections are necessarily processed with exactly the same seam, but it needs to be done more sweepingly. Then the bottom of the skirt will be more magnificent. To fixation was more rigid, the craftsmen recommend to sew with their own hands at the bottom of the cut line fishing line or crossbar.

How to make a fluffy petticoat pack with your own hands

Do it yourself full skirt, which is popularly called a pack. This name came from the association with the element of the ballerina's outfit - there the skirt with a horizontal stance is always magnificent.

In order to sew such an outfit for a girl, you need to stock up:

 • Thin rubber - be it hat, silicone or spandex;
 • Dense sewing elastic band, whose width would reach 2-4 cm;
 • Tulle. There is no limit to imagination - color, stiffness, mesh size, texture. In all these aspects, there is where to roam;
 • Thread, scissors, needle.

Stripes of 20-30 cm wide are cut from tulle, they should turn out about 50 pieces. The craftswoman chooses the length, however, she must multiply the desired by two.

A belt is formed from the gum, fixed with a thread and a needle.

Tulle ribbons should be wrapped around the elastic by the piece, the length of the ends must be equal.

On the belt, the fabric is easily fixed with a loop or an ordinary knot. Do not tighten the tulle tapes too much, they should move freely on the elastic band.

After all the fatin was on an elastic band, it should be well spread with your own hands and evenly distributed around the waist. Thus, the skirt will become magnificent.

Stitch strips can only be 30 cm long, and leave the edges intact. And it is possible along the entire length. For bold young ladies, as well as for little girls with super-fluffy skirts, sometimes the ribbons are not sewn at all, but only slightly fastened at the very beginning. Then a “soaring” effect is created.
